FREE RABIES IMMUNIZATION CLINIC SCHEDULED IN PERINTON

Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna and Town Clerk Janelle Reed recently announced the Town of Perinton, in partnership with Monroe County and Fairport Animal Hospital, will hold a free rabies immunization clinic on Saturday, June 17, by online appointment only, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The drive-thru clinic will take place at the Perinton Department of Public Works, 100 Cobb’s Lane, Fairport, NY 14450. Town of Perinton and Village of Fairport dog owners will be able to renew or apply for a dog license, as required by New York State Law.

“The Town of Perinton is making it easier than ever to immunize your pet – from the ease of booking an online appointment to the convenience of a drive-thru clinic – we hope you will take advantage of this event and help protect your dog or cat,” said Hanna. “Special thanks to Perinton Animal Control, Monroe County, and Fairport Animal Hospital for coordinating these life-saving vaccinations.”

Both dogs and cats can be immunized at the clinic but must be at least three months old. To book an appointment, visit the Town’s online scheduling portal: perinton.org/departments/public-works/animal-control/rabies-clinics/.

Those attending the clinic should plan to arrive at their scheduled time and remain in their vehicle until asked to exit with the animal. Dogs must be leashed, and cats must be in a sturdy pet carrier upon arrival. A copy of a prior rabies vaccination record is required to receive a 3-year rabies vaccination. Without records, a one-year initial vaccination will be provided. All shots are provided at no charge.

Rabies is a viral infection that is fatal once symptoms develop. Although a bite most often transmits the disease, it can also be spread if saliva from a rabid animal comes in contact with the mouth, nose, eyes, or an open wound on the body. Health officials strongly recommend pet vaccination as it provides a barrier to prevent the transmission of rabies from a pet that has come in contact with a rabid animal to a person that subsequently touches the exposed pet.

The Office of Town Clerk Janelle Reed will also be present at the Rabies Immunization Clinic to help Perinton and Fairport dog owners obtain a dog license.

“All dog owners in the Town of Perinton and Village of Fairport are required by law to obtain a dog license from the Town Clerk’s Office,” said Reed. “By licensing your dog with the Town, we are able to help identify and protect your dog if it becomes lost. Licensing helps shelters detect missing pets, and it helps our Animal Control Officer reunite families with their pet when a dog is found. Licensing also ensures that a dog has an up-to-date rabies vaccine.”

New York State Law requires every dog over four months of age to be licensed annually by the local municipality in which they reside. The Town of Perinton issues dog licenses for residents in the Town of Perinton and the Village of Fairport in accordance with Chapter 78 of the Town Code. Once a dog is licensed, the Town Clerk’s Office will mail renewal notices each year, which can be completed online (with up-to-date rabies) at perinton.org/, by mail, or in person.

Dog License Fees:

• Un-neutered or un-spayed dog: $20

• Spayed/neutered dog: $10

• Senior discount: $5 discount on the above fees for any owner over 65 years of age

• Payment is accepted in the form of cash, check, or credit card with a $1.80 service fee payable to the credit card company. (Checks payable to the Town of Perinton)

For more information on Dog Licensing, contact the Town Clerk’s Office at (585) 223-0770 or visit www.perinton.org. More information on the Free Rabies Immunization Clinic can be obtained by calling (585) 223-5115 or visiting www.perinton.org/departments/public-works/animal-control/.

This Is For College Athletes!

College athletes' off-season begins right when their season ends, but most colleges do in-season training so the training never really ends…

Today I am going to discuss summertime training and why it is so important for seniors in high school who are getting the opportunity to play at the college level and also returning college athletes as well.

College ends roughly around mid-May and most kids go back mid to late August with the exception of a few September starts.

Summer break can involve anywhere between 12-16 weeks of uninterrupted training, give or take a week or two for family trips.

That is a long time.

Why is that time so valuable?

That time can be devoted to solely just working on your weaknesses as the athlete prepares for the next season. For those athletes that made an impact, it can really prepare them physically and take their game to a higher level. For those incoming freshmen, there is a huge mental component to college so coming in physically and mentally fit can be extremely valuable.

Yes, Yes and YES!

Should we be celebrating employee milestones?

YES, they are extremely important. As I always say, we see the people we work with more than our families, in most cases. Leadership should be recognizing employee anniversaries, milestone anniversaries, promotions, completing a large project, and any outstanding achievements that are cause for celebration. You should want to show your appreciation and show that you value their efforts, service, hard work, and loyalty. A small token of appreciation goes a long way! The handwritten card or 5-year pin doesn't cut it. Consider a personalized gift such as a gift card to their favorite restaurant, sports event, play, paid days off, lunch, etc.

These are just a few ideas; just remember to make it memorable and personalized. We believe employee personal milestones should be celebrated as well. They are actually more meaningful and build that deeper connection. Why? Because when leadership shows they care about you as a person and not just as an employee, that employee feels very valued and touched and can become very loyal and hardworking if they are not already. As a leader, what milestones should you be looking for to celebrate? Need help with this? Click on the link below to download your FREE employee and client engagement program guides.
