Fairport Bicentennial Canal Gateway Project named APWA/Genesee Valley PROJECT OF THE YEAR

The Genesee Valley Branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA) announced that the Village of Fairport is the 2020 recipient of the Project of the Year Award in the Small Cities/Rural Communities category for Structures Projects for the Fairport Bicentennial Canal Gateway Project.

The Project of the Year Award in the Small Cities/Rural Communities category was established to promote excellence in demonstrating creativity, ingenuity, and efficiency in the delivery of Public Works projects that have a profound impact on the community. This award recognizes the alliance between the managing agency, the engineer and contractors who together have led to a successful completion of a public works project.

The Village of Fairport Project, completed in September 2020, was awarded grants from the New York State Canal Corporation, the Erie Canalway Heritage Corridor and the Fairport Industrial Development Agency.
