TOWN CLERK JANELLE REED ANNOUNCES MOBILE MAMMOGRAPHY CENTER COMING TO PERINTON

In an effort to support the health and well-being of the community, Perinton Town Clerk Janelle Reed announced today that the Rochester Regional Health Mobile Mammography Center is coming to the Town of Perinton on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be located at the Perinton Community Center North Parking Lot, 1350 Turk Hill Road, Fairport, NY 14450. Appointments are encouraged; however, walk-ins are welcome. To secure an appointment, please call 585-922-PINK, or visit www.RochesterRegional.org/PINK.

Breast cancer screenings can be lifesaving, yet they often take a backseat to the demands of work, family, and other commitments. “Finding just 15 minutes for a breast cancer screening can be challenging with our busy lives,” said Town Clerk Janelle Reed. “That’s why the Perinton Town Clerk’s Office has partnered with Rochester Regional Health to make this essential service more accessible. Most insurance providers cover the screening, and for those without insurance, New York State may provide assistance.”

Preventive screenings are covered under most insurance plans. In addition, the NYS Cancer Services Program offers free breast cancer screening and diagnostic services to residents without insurance. Reed hopes this service will eliminate barriers like scheduling and financial concerns, ensuring that all eligible women have easy access to mammograms.

The Rochester Regional Health Mobile Mammography Center boasts state-of-the-art technology, a dedicated team of experts on-site, and a comfortable environment featuring two private dressing rooms. Mammography results are promptly evaluated by a board-certified Breast Imaging Radiologist and are typically available to the patient’s healthcare provider the following day. Results are also mailed directly to the patient for added convenience.

To qualify for this service, women must be at least 40 years old and not pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients are advised to bring their insurance cards and photo ID on the day of their appointment. It’s important to note that patients should avoid applying deodorant, antiperspirant, powders, lotions, creams, or perfumes under their arms prior to the exam.

October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about this prevalent disease. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), one in every eight women will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, making mammograms the most effective way to detect breast cancer at an early, treatable stage.

For more information and to schedule your appointment, please call 585-922-PINK or visit www.RochesterRegional.org/PINK.

1) Your clients will feel very valued and appreciated
2) You will receive more referrals from your clients
3) Your profits will increase
4) You will have less client turnover
5) A structured program and a program leader will help make it seamless and effective.

Now is the perfect time to start a program with the holidays coming up! Think about gifting in November instead of December. Stand out instead of fitting in!

Young Athletes Have Been Doing This Exercise Wrong!

Push-ups are great because you can do them anytime and anywhere you want to. Not a lot of equipment is required and it is believed that everyone can do them and/or can teach them.

Why are push-ups good for you?
1. Develop total body strength
2. Require body awareness and control
3. Improve core strength
4. Strengthen the upper body

Unfortunately, in today's athletic world, push-ups are not performed well by young athletes.

Why?
- Athletes do not have a strong upper body or core
- Coaches have athletes perform them at the end of practice during “conditioning”
- Form is never taught and athletes are told to do push-ups
- Different variations are not provided; athletes are told to do push-ups on the ground

When performing a push-up, athletes should:
1. Have their feet hip-width
2. Align their wrist with the armpit
3. Focus on having a long spine with a little low back arch
4. Form a triangle between the thumbs and nose when lowering their body
5. Focus on having their nose and chest touch the ground first and not the belly

A tip from Mike Boyle, a well-known strength coach: If you are an athlete 11 and older, it could be ideal to learn how to Bench Press. Learning how to bench can be a great way to improve upper-body strength which will help when trying to do a push-up.

Here is a video discussing how to perform the perfect push-up. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Kt0_EGdVSE&t=133s

P.S. Their FUNdamentals class is filling up!
If you are looking for a program to help your athlete, FUNdamentals is the program!
==> Get faster
==> Improve balance and coordination
==> Move quicker laterally
==> Have FUN and compete
