You're Invited - Public info Session - Proposed Improvements to the Erie Canal Banks in the Village of Fairport

You’re invited to attend a Public Information session on Thursday, July 19th at 7pm at Fairport Village Hall to discuss proposed improvements to the banks of the Erie Canal, west of the Liftbridge.

"Establishing connectivity to the Erie Canal and Main Street in the Village of Fairport, for residents and visitors, by creating an inviting and walkable environment, this project will encourage engagement with the canal and the Fairport community, by revealing amenities, views and links which will expand the landscape of the Village and provide a sense of place to the western banks."

Under consideration are improvements to the northwest and southwest banks of the Canal. As currently proposed, the existing docks and boat ramp along the northwest bank will be replaced and expanded with new ADA accessible amenities including wider docks, docks of varying heights to accommodate motorized and non-motorized boats, and an appropriately sloped boat launch. In addition, a kayak dock, observation deck, and ADA accessible heritage trail will be constructed along the southwest bank. New sidewalk along Roselawn Avenue will connect the new improvements to the existing residential sidewalk network. Enhanced wayfinding, landscaping, green infrastructure, and lighting will connect the two areas through Kennelley Park, over the lift bridge, and connect to the existing Erie Canalway Trail. Funding will be requested through the New York State Regional Economic Development Consolidated Funding Application process.
