The Fairport-Perinton Chamber of Commerce holds quarterly member meetings, and recently 60 members gathered for the annual meeting at Monroe Golf Club, a luncheon co-sponsored by Tim Shortsleeve of Fairport’s tys, LLP.
A good-bye was shared with President Paul West. He and his family are moving to Florida. We are thankful for his past contribution to the Chamber, ushering in tremendous growth. Also, he helped many local homeowners in his role as Nothnagle Realtor. He will be missed, but the Chamber knows where to find him!
Past Chamber Vice President, Jim Bilotta has stepped into the President’s role. Jim is the Branch Manager of the LNB branch in Fairport. Currently, he is serving the Chamber as a returnee to the Board of Directors.
At the meeting, the following Board of Directors, in addition to Jim Bilotta, were approved: Thomas Cappon, Kathryn Castro, Diane McClure, Ellen Reynolds, and Kellie Wright.
Darren Miller, Chamber webmaster and owner of Custom 100 was recognized as Business of the Month. He has chosen this field to help communities grow and connect to like-minded people through design. Out-going President Paul West stated, “Our Chamber is fortunate to be able to utilize his skills, as webmaster and digital expert.”
Tim Shortsleeve of tys, LLP, presented Achieving Your Business Goals. Tim challenged members to use “focus” planning versus “goal” setting in their business practices. Achieving growth in areas of focus can be realized through defining achievable expectations, transparent communication, leadership and staff alignment, defining why you do what you do, documenting success descriptions, measurement, and placing behavioral guidelines in writing.
Before, during, and after the luncheon event, networking was a coveted opportunity. On-going, members benefit from utilizing the Chamber communications as visible platforms for their respective businesses. The Chamber website, monthly enewsletter, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, monthly coffees, monthly member-hosted after hour events, quarterly membership meetings, January’s State of the Town, Village & Schools, Fourth of July celebration, Business of the Month recognition, welcome baskets and additional Chamber activities are all opportunities to communicate. Members are on-boarded through the Chamber Ambassador and welcome baskets.
The next Chamber event is the 4th of July Run, Parade, and Party-in-the-Park with the Skycoasters and food trucks. Businesses have the opportunity to enter floats in the parade, at no cost. You do not need to be a member of the Chamber to participate in the parade. The application is now due: http://fairportperintonchamber.org/?q=event/july-4th-2017-parade-party-park
